Jackson: Stay focused

By Chris Dicketts

Gills striker Simeon Jackson has issued an early rallying call to the Gills players ahead of next season.

The 21-year-old who joined the club in the January transfer window has scored four times for the club since signing and is not concerned about the Gills opposition for next season.

Talking to Kent Online, he said: "You have to concentrate on what you`re doing and not worry about other teams. That`s how you will do well.

"We would like to go straight back up so we`re going to aim to do that, look to be in the top half and do well."

The young striker is up for the challenge of spear heading the Gills attack as they try to bounce back into League One at the first time of asking.

He said: "I feel settled in now, it`s a brilliant club and we`re just trying to take it in the right direction.

"It`s very good playing in the league. I had a taste of it before and now I`m back in it I`m trying to get my bearings and trying to do well.

The young striker thinks that a good team spirit is going to be the key to bouncing straight back.

He added: "It`s been a brief summer break but we`re back in for the right reasons and the manager wants us to tick over in June. We`ll only see the benefits in the season.

"We`re all gelling together and we`ve got this pre-season now to gel and become a team for when the season starts.

"This division won`t be easier but the way the manager wants to play and with the players we`ve got I think we`ll do well."
