Gills manager Mark Stimson is continuing his efforts to strengthen his squad by taking a look at a number of trialists in the reserves.
The second string were beaten 2-1 by Southampton at Priestfield, with first-team squad members Alan Julian, Leigh Mills, Mark Bentley and Stuart Lewis all involved.
But most of the attention will be on the trialists who featured for the Gills.
Among them was a familiar face in journeyman striker Trevor Benjamin. The Gills are one of 16 league clubs the 29-year-old has already represented, having spent a month on loan five years ago.
Benjamin - who scored the Gills goal in the loss - was partnered in attack by Marcus Haber, a 19-year-old Canadian striker who is an international team-mate of Simeon Jackson.
Albert Jarrett, a winger formerly of Wimbledon, Brighton and Watford, impressed on the left of midfield, while former Derby youngster Tyron Amory played the first half on the right.
The fifth trialist is American striker Roland Benedict, who played the last quarter of an hour after replacing Haber.
Benedict will always be better known for his Dad though - American actor Dirk who played Face in the A-Team.
Stick with Vital Gillingham to find out if any of the trialists make the cut.
