First Team Coach Mark Robson is expected to sign a new two year deal to stay with the Gills.
The former Charlton coach joined the Gills part way through their promotion season, and his presence and coaching expertise were a massive bonus for manager Mark Stimson.
Talking to the Kent Online he said: "His deal is nearly done, we are close and it`s just a matter of sitting down and thrashing out the last bit. We`re just working now as normal anyway.
"He likes to play the game the same as I do and I`ve got a great backroom with Danny Ellis and Scott Barrett - it was really pleasing to be able to add Mark to it."
This news could prove to be the best bit of business Mark Stimson does in the transfer window.
He added: "I was already looking for a coach and when he had his bad news and had to leave Charlton it was perfect for us.
'It was important to have someone else as at the start of the season as there were some players who weren`t up to the standard and we could have spent too much time helping them improve and neglecting the rest.'
Robson is a tactically aware coach and compliments the current coaching staff and is a clear favourite amongst the players.
As soon as Mark Robson signs his new deal we will bring you the news here at Gills Vital.
