McCammon Stars For Reserves

Gills striker Mark McCammon made a strong case to get his first-team berth back with four goals as the reserves thrashed Eastbourne Borough 5-1.

The Gills fielded a strong side, with all but two of the starting XI having started a first-team game this season.

But it was McCammon, who last week issued a statement saying he was unhappy about his status at the club, who shone with four goals.

The Gills actually fell behind at Priestfield after an error from returning goalkeeper Simon Royce, but McCammon quickly wiped out the deficit with his first two goals.

The big frontman then teed up Adam Miller to make it 3-1, before completing his hat-trick before the break.

He made it 5-1 after the interval, and the Gills almost made it six late on when trialist Gavin Grant - who played 10 times for the Gills in the 2005/06 season - hit the post.
