Despite me at times being a critic of his tactics and team selections over the last two seasons, there is no doubt that Hessenthaler who is loved by us fans has the Gillingham blue blood running through his veins, sadly though commitment and passion alone are not always enough to see you through.
So now the fans turn their focus to who will be the next manager and despite many names and particular front runners being mentioned by the bookies. I know who I would personally like to see and I wonder what he is doing at this moment in time. Steve Bruce.
Some may choose to dismiss such a suggestion instantly or even laugh at me for the mere thought, especially in regards to cost for such an appointment.
Although is it really any more of a dream than recent of talk of a new multi million pound development... click here.
Some reports with suggestions within the region of an 18,000 capacity stadium. How big is that dream, how far off is that ambition. Or maybe financially now is too soon for ex Premiership manager within any ten year plan and there is no Di Canio League Two style appointment for us.

Within time the new manager will be unveiled but appointments such as this should not be rushed, whoever is appointed, I will be surprised if it happens to be a choice that pleases everyone.
Just remember this is the Centenary in the name of Gillingham Football Club, I just hope whatever the outcome it is one to remember for all the right reasons.
