Clark new favourite for Gillingham job?

A surprising new name has suddenly been installed, by the bookies at least, as the favourite to become the next Gillingham manager.

Former Huddersfield manager Lee Clark, who was surprisingly removed from his job in February, has become the bookies favourite for the vacant Gills job!

Clark is not ruling in or out the possibility of taking the job: 'I'm not prepared to comment on speculation.

'I think the football club is trying to do things the right way, in private, and whether I'm interested or in for the job, I've got to respect the people running the football club.

'In my time at Huddersfield I've come up against people at the club, the chairman and directors in particular, they are good people, I don't want to put my name into the hat or deny I'm in for the job, and put them into a difficult position. I cannot really comment on it one way or the other.'

The 39-year-old is certainly a surprise name linked with the job although I would bet that a large number of Gills fans would happy see this come off?
