Burton signs
Martin Allen will work with Deon Burton again (having done so at Brentford) after bringing him to Gillingham.
The veteran striker had been on an extended trial with MK Dons earlier this summer and was offered a contract but turned this down in favour of a move to Priestfield, where he's been given a one-year contract as opposed to the six-months from MK Dons.
On Burton's signing Allen, as he told BBC Radio Kent: 'I've known Deon for a long, long time and know what's he's about. He brings quality, has a very good work ethic and is in great shape.
'We wanted more senior and experienced player and he's the first one. We're still looking at a few others.'
Burton may well be 35-years-old, so is very much at the veteran stage, but has a wealth of experience to add to the quality he possess too.
This quality makes him more than capable of playing at league two level, the fact that league one MK Dons wanted him proves this so the Jamaican should prove to be a good signing for The Gills.
