Result: Bristol City 1-2 Gillingham
Martin Allen's first competitive game in charge of Gillingham ended with victory as The Gills caused a Capital One Cup upset.
Gillingham travelled to Bristol City and with the first half destined to end level a penalty was awarded with Danny Kedwell (45+1) making no mistake.
One-nil became two-nil early in the second half when debutant Ben Strevens (54) extended the visitors lead.
Bristol City pulled one back deep into injury-time through Marvin Elliott (90+5) but it was Gillingham's night as they won 2-1.
