A five-goal thriller saw Crawley edge out Gillingham to end The Gills' Johnstone's Paint Trophy adventure for another season.
Bradley Dack (22) gave Gillingham the lead, which looked likely to be taken into the half time break but Joe Walsh (40) equalised just before the break.
Crawley came from behind to take a two-one lead minutes into the second half when Billy Clarke (47) scored, but the visitors struck back instantly through Lewis Montrose (49).
With a penalty shootout looming Scott Neilson (86) struck minutes from the end to secure a 3-2 win and send Crawley into round two.
