Long-term deals for Gillingham youngsters

Having made the most of their opportunity since Martin Allen arrived at Gillingham Bradley Dack and Callum Davies' form has earned them new long-term contracts at Priestfield.

Allen, as he told The Kent Messenger, had little hesitation in getting the teenagers tied down.

Within a couple of weeks of his arrival with The Gills the new boss was convinced that there was "something special" about both: 'I instigated the move by recommending we get them signed and sealed.

'They play in the spine of the team down the middle, are both great lads, work hard and have got great ability.

'It was quite obvious in my first 10 days at the club, there was something special about the pair of them. They can get much better, but I like their attitude and the way they go about their business.'

The new three-year deals that both have committed to not only give the player added security, and a feeling that they are wanted, it also protects Gillingham against other clubs looking to poach for them - the longer their contracts the more, in theory anyway, the transfer fee would be!
