Back to winning ways

Northampton 1-2 Gillingham
2nd October 2012
19:45
Sixfields Stadium

Gillingham proved that the weekend defeat, their first of the season, was just a blip as they returned to winning ways at Northampton on Tuesday night.

Having been denied by the crossbar, when Chris Hackett saw his effort come back off the woodwork, Northampton eventually went into the half time break one-down with Deon Burton (44) striking a minute before the interval.

Shortly after the restart Jack Payne (55) doubled The Gills lead.

Adebayo Akinfenwa (82) brought Northampton back into the game late on but despite losing Charlie Allen in injury-time, with him collecting a second booking, Gillingham won 2-1 to keep up their 100% record away from home.
