Deon Burton is waiting in the wings to take on the penalty taking duties should the opportunity arise.
At present top scorer Danny Kedwell has the spot kick responsibilities, successfully converting five already this season, so Burton knows he has his work cut out to get the chance but if it comes he will take it: 'Keds is on fire and has scored every one so far.
'Whenever he's not playing and I am, there's someone to step in.'
Burton's own spot kick record is none too shabby though, as he points out and has reminded his teammate about several times: 'I've scored 18 from 20 in the last five or six years. If he isn't playing, I'm ready to take them. I've been reminding him about the stats in case he decides he's not feeling it.'
At the moment veteran striker Burton has four goals to Kedwell's nine but the 35-year-old has joked that he wants Kedwell to hand over responsibility to him at Christmas so he can "catch back up."
You have to be confident to take a penalty, Burton obviously doesn't lack this so if he does step up you would like to think you can have faith in him converting, especially given his 90% success rate in recent years!
