'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Allen: Some of his saves were unbelievable

You can't legislate for what happens sometimes in a game, when you come up against an "inspired" goalkeeper there's even less you can do!

Martin Allen had the greatest of praise for Oxford's Ryan Clarke, after an outstanding performance denied Gillingham a win.

Clarke was compared to both Gordon Banks and Joe Hart, with saves that both would have been happy with in the 0-0 draw: 'I thought their goalkeeper was absolutely Gordon Banks. He was awesome. I was clapping him myself from the sidelines. I had to check the team sheet...I thought he was Joe Hart. Some of his saves were unbelievable.

'It was definitely a point gained.

'We played some great football in the first half, we just couldn't break them down and we came up against a unbelievable goalkeeper.'
