'If It's Football, It's Vital'

You've not helped your case!

The fact that Gillingham exited the FA Cup on Saturday wasn't down to Deon Burton's penalty miss, perhaps that didn't help but his spot-kick failure wasn't behind the exit to Preston.

A few months back Burton spoke of his desire to takeover the penalty taking duties from top goalscorer Danny Kedwell, citing his record over the years as the reason why he wanted to step up to the plate if Kedwell wasn't playing and/or wanted to pass the duty over to him.

Veteran Burton's chance came at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon but his penalty came back off the post, so he hasn't enhanced his chances of getting on spot-kick duties permanently!

Everyone misses a penalty, Burton is no different, but you'd imagine that Kedwell will remain on penalty duty for The Gills for the foreseeable future.
