Cobblers! Gills game called off

Gillingham aren't going to have the chance to ensure that they'll end 2012 at the top of the league two table as the home game with Northampton has been called off.

Heavy rain had left the game in doubt for a couple of days and after a lunchtime inspection of the Priestfield pitch on Friday afternoon it was decided that there wasn't a chance of the game going ahead, a waterlogged pitch was the only winner.

It's been an indifferent end to the year for The Gills but how they would have wanted the chance to end it on a high!
