Gills Virtually Secure Promotion!

Gillingham 1-0 Rotherham
1st April 2013

Priestfield

Gillingham secured an Easter Monday win over Rotherham at Priestfield to all but secure promotion from League Two.

At the midway point of the first half former Millers striker Deon Burton (22) converted the only real meaningful effort of the half really to hand The Gills the lead.

But for the bar, via a save from Scott Shearer, Gillingham would have extended their lead late on through Danny Kedwell while Rotherham almost grabbed a share of the points even later on with Stuart Nelson denying Michael O'Connor from range.

The 1-0 win, coupled with other results, leaves The Gills 11-points ahead of fourth placed Cheltenham so promotion is virtually wrapped up but winning the title is now also getting closer.
