Getting The Job Done

Getting The Job Done

A play off spot, at the very least, is already assured for Gillingham. However automatic promotion could be confirmed this weekend.

Martin Allen, as he told BBC Radio Kent, knows that there's "still a job to be done" but has enjoyed an amazing season at Priestfield and hopes to secure promotion in front of the home fans today against Torquay, he said: 'It is quite surreal for me, being top of the league for all but two weeks of the season.

'It is quite an amazing feat. To do it here in front of our own supporters could be very, very special but we have got to get the job done.'

Allen is no stranger to promotion, however as a player and manager this has usually come via the play-offs with battling relegation also something that he is familiar with so this is something different, something he has enjoyed and admits the achievement isn't something he quite expected when he came in.

Having been there, or thereabouts, all season no one can deny The Gills deserve to go up and probably as Champions!
