'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Experience Pair Wanted

They might be the wrong side of 30 but Martin Allen, as he told KentOnline, is keen on an experienced pair to remain with Gillingham for next season.

33-year-old Frampton and 36-year-old Deon Burton are out of contract this summer but Allen believes that they are capable of playing a part in League One next season and he hopes new deals are accepted.

It's not just their ability on the field, but their influence off it too. Allen said: 'On and off the field, both of them were fantastic. It makes managing it a lot easier when you have people like that willing to go the extra yard and helping younger people when they are not playing.

'I had a decision to make, whether to give them another year and whether they can maintain it and I believe they both can.'

Both were known to Allen from earlier in his managerial career, so he had little doubt as to what they could do and they lived up to his expectations, so hopefully both decide that Priestfield is where they want to stay.
