'If It's Football, It's Vital'

King Calls It Quits

Former Gillingham star Simon King has been forced to retire from the game due to injury.

His retirement was confirmed by himself personally with a "tweet" on Monday, he said: 'I have (retired) due to injuries to both ankles. Started a personal training course today (Monday).'

King came to Gillingham with a great future ahead of him expected, signing for a significant 200,000 in 2007.

Unfortunately a serious ankle injury picked up playing for The Gills in 2009 was never really recovered from and he was released last summer, being snapped up by Inverness.

However, his performances were limited at the Scottish Premier League side and the 30-year-old has decided to call it a day.

There will be very few that would have anything other than good things to say about King and would wish him the best of luck for the future.
