Flinders Stays With Gills

Gillingham have extended the loan spell of Scott Flinders for a second month.

The Crystal Palace youngster has been with the club since September 8 and his loan deal was set to expire after Saturday's trip to Crewe.

But, with Kelvin Jack still not fully fit with his knee injury, manager Ronnie Jepson has managed to secure the services of the England under-20 stopper for another month.

Flinders, 20, made a fine start to his Gills career with a superb performance against Doncaster, before following it up with steady showings in the wins over Millwall and Swansea.

He had a bit of a blip at Oldham and Leyton Orient, but made some important saves against Cheltenham last week and will be hoping to do a good job over the next month, which will see games against Crewe, Nottingham Forest twice, Brentford, Carlisle and Chesterfield.

Manager Ronnie Jepson said: 'He's come in and done well, hopefully he's found his feet now, he's thought very highly of in the England set up as well as the Crystal Palace set up, and he's been a good addition to the squad.'
