Reason To Be Cheerful
This season has been a far cry from last season for Gillingham, so far anyway...
Gillingham were there or thereabouts for the duration of the league two season before being crowned champions and coming into league one with some high hopes of them.
Alas, thus far the Gills have found life tough going in league one.
That illusive win is still something that Gillingham are searching for and were beaten late on at Sixfields when they went down 2-1 to in-form Coventry.
It's not all doom and gloom though with Martin Allen believing that there's reasons to be cheerful and he has taken positives from that.
Allen told BBC Radio Kent: 'We were much more focused and concentrated. If they keep playing like that they will be fine.
'These performances will turn into wins. There is no doubt about that.
Things have had to improve and they acquitted themselves well. I wouldn't say it's back to the drawing board because I thought it was a good performance.
'The players have given everything they have got. We are exhausted after that performance against Coventry.'
Simply looking at a result and just accepting another defeat is an easy thing to do but it's not (always anyway) that easy and as much as it seems a struggle for the Gills at the moment I'd be thinking along the same lines as Allen at the moment that things will improve and a climb up the table will come.
Especially if the club keep playing with pace, tenacity and organisation that's been shown of late...
