Luck Against Gills
That giant killing upset that we all hoped we'd avoid wasn't possible on Monday.
Gillingham went to Brackley Town with the television cameras smelling and upset, and they duly got that when they saw us off 1-0 at St James Park.
However, I think it's fair to say that we very much had the luck against us, denied by the woodwork and an offside flag with countless pressure put on the non-league side.
Peter Taylor wasn't at all disappointed with how we played though, and the chances we had but did bemoan the lack of luck.
He told BBC Radio Kent: 'We played some tremendous football, created a load of chances and scored a goal that was perfectly good. We had no luck at all.
'In that respect, it's gone against us tonight. It's not nice losing.'
Glen Walker's 20-yard strike in the first half proved the difference between the side, but the woodwork denied us three times and the flag ruled out a goal for us but when all is said and done the record books will show Brackley as winning 1-0 and nothing else!
Taylor knows that the defeat is a setback but also knows that the players gave it everything so takes some encouragement from them and can't fault them at all as we now "focus on the league"....
Speaking of which, as a result of our exiting the FA cup early along with our league one rivals Notts County our fixture with them has been altered.
With us both exiting the FA cup at the first hurdle that left us with a free date Saturday 7th December.
This has been filled by moving the game at Meadow Lane to that date from its original Tuesday 28th January 2014 one, which makes sense if you ask me.
