Happy Enough In Defeat

Happy Enough In Defeat

Well, you're never happy with defeat but as far as being "happy" when you've lost goes Peter Taylor was happy enough after Gillingham lost 2-1 at Brentford on Friday night.

Brentford, who moved to the top of the league one table with the win, extended their unbeaten run, but Taylor had little complaints from what he saw. He was disappointed with some chances that passed the Gills by though.

The Gillingham boss said: 'At times we played some very good football against a very good side in Brentford who haven't lost for something like 15 games.

'We played it long, we played it shot and we mixed things up. We've missed a couple of sitters to get back in the game so it could have been a very different outcome.

'We were very well organised and at times put them under a lot of pressure. Perhaps my only disappointment was that we didn't score a couple more goals.'

A ninth home win on the trot at Griffin Park for Brentford came about with goals from Jonathan Douglas and Marcello Trotta, Cody McDonald's goals wasn't enough with David Button producing a save to prevent a dramatic comeback.
