Whelpdale Signs Stevenage Deal
Gillingham wanted to keep Chris Whelpdale but once he made it clear he wasn't going to sign a new contract Peter Taylor admitted defeat and reluctantly let him go this summer.
During his permanent three-years with the club, having initially been on loan from Peterborough United with the club in November 2010, he helped the club to promotion from league 2 to league 1 playing over 120-games and scoring 23-goals.
Last season the wingers campaign was blighted by injuries but the fact that Taylor would still have kept him proves what the thoughts are on the 25-year-old who has opted to join league 2 outfit Stevenage Borough.
Upon the confirmation of his departure, among other things, the official website wished him well: 'We thank Chris for his services while at the club and we wish him well for the future.'
