Nelson In Team Of The Week (20/12/16)

Nelson In Team Of The Week (20/12/16)

Gillingham are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Stuart Nelson in the one nil victory over MK Dons at the weekend at the Priestfield Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Nelson was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Gillingham defeated Milton Keynes Dons 1-0 on Matchday 22, and Nelson's heroics proved to be the game's turning point. The Gills' Man of the Match denied Dean Bowditch from the spot just before the break, which gave his side the momentum to push on and win the game.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Nelson for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Stuart Nelson (Gillingham), Chris Robertson (Wimbledon), Liam Moore (Reading), Kyle Bartley (Leeds United), Tommy Smith (Huddersfield Town), Jimmy Smith (Crawley Town), Matty Lund (Rochdale), Ryan Kent (Barnsley), Ollie Watkins (Exeter City), Billy Sharp (Sheffield United), Chris Maguire (Oxford United).

Manager - Danny Wilson (Chesterfield).
