Larrieu Extends Gills Stay

By Chris Dicketts, Vital Gillingham

Romain Larrieu has extended his loan at Priestfield for a further month - keeping him with the Gills until after the Easter Monday clash with Bristol City.

The Plymouth goalkeeper has made eight appearances for the Gills since Larrieu arrived as cover for the injured Kelvin Jack in time for the rearranged Swansea game at the end of January on an initial seven day emergency loan.

He went onto make his home debut in the televised game against Sky where he endeared himself to the home faithful, prompting the Gills to sign him for a month.

So far he has kept two clean sheets in impressive home victories against Tranmere and Bradford City and spoke last week of his desire to stay in Kent, telling the Plymouth Herald: 'This season has been pretty messed up for me, with what happened in the summer, and I felt I couldn't afford to be wasting any more time.

"I wanted to get something out of this season and for me to do that I needed to go somewhere else, and Gillingham were the team.'

Le Keeper`s pre-season was disrupted by illness and he has made just four appearances for Argyle this season, and now it seems that Ronnie Jepson and Ian Holloway have managed to work something out and Romain Larrieu will continue to play for the Gills for a further month, hopefully his impressive performances and understanding with the back four will continue until the end of his loan spell.

This further month loan will give Kelvin Jack more time to recover from the injuries that have seen him play a total of eight league games this season.
