Iffy Back As Coach - Report

After recent speculation, it seems as though former Gills striker Iffy Onuora has been appointed as first-team coach.

Onuora, 39, scored 55 times in 169 appearances during two spells with the club, and was a real fans' favourite in his time with the club.

After retiring from the game, he went to another of his former clubs - Swindon - in a coaching capacity and eventually became their manager, but was unable to prevent them from relegation to League Two at the end of the 2005/06 season.

He spent last season as co-commentator for Radio Kent, commentating on Gills games, and his constant use of the term 'we' to describe the Gills proved that his heart is still with the Kent club.

He had a six-month spell playing alongside manager Ronnie Jepson, and now, according to reports in the local media, he is working alongside Jepson once again.

Iffy joins assistant manager Mick Docherty and chief scout Alan McLeary in the backroom staff at Priestfield.

Good move for me although we need some help coaching the defence! i think sparks may well fly at the priestfield, as iffy had some what of a reputation for straight talking, will ronnie like that?
