Gillingham succumbed to defeat yesterday away at Morecambe.
It makes it two defeats in a week on the road for the Gills following the win against Oxford a week ago.
Frank Nouble netted a last minute consolation from the penalty spot after Garry Hunter gave Morecambe the lead and Kevin Ellison extended that advantage in the second half.
It was Morecambe who were on the front foot from the off. Gary McDonald fired wide in 5th minute.
They went ahead on eight minutes when Curtis Weston half cleared. The ball fell to Garry Hunter who lobbed Ross Flitney from 20 yards out.
The Gills went close on 16 minutes when Charlie Lee couldn't quite connect with a Chris Whelpdale cross.
Luke Rooney forced Barry Roche into a save on the half hour from a corner.
In the second half it was more of the same from the off but the Gills tried to find a way into the game.
It was Morecambe who had the first chance in the 55th minute, Ross Flitney cut out a cross from Lewis Alessandra.
On 68 minutes they did go 2-0 up when Reid sent the ball into the box and Kevin Ellison stroked the ball home at the far post.
In stoppage time Jo Kuffour was brought down in the area by Barry Roche. Frank Nouble stepped up and fired home a consolation goal.
