Who Are Ya... Bournemouth?

Who Are Ya... Bournemouth?
Who are ya? AFC Bournemouth

Nickname: The Cherries.

Ground: Dean Court.

How to get there: By Car: From Gillingham, take the A229 to the M20, then take the M26 to the M25 clockwise. Leave the M25 at Junction 12 and join the M3. Follow the M3 down to Junction 13, the M27, and head westbound. Continue forward onto the A31 and then take the A338 into Bournemouth. Follow signs marked 'All Football Traffic' to the ground. Distance from Priestfield: 142 miles. Approximate time: 2hrs 35mins.

Nearest station: Pokesdown, although not every train stops there, so Bournemouth Central may be more appropriate.Websites: Official Website, Vital Bournemouth.

Manager: Sean O'Driscoll, in charge since August 2000.Last five games v Gillingham:

17/12/05: League One - Bournemouth (Hayter, Surman) 2-1 Gillingham (Harris)

20/08/05: League One - Gillingham (Browning og) 1-0 Bournemouth

21/03/00: Division Two - Bournemouth 0-1 Gillingham (Onuora)

12/11/99: Division Two - Gillingham (Hessenthaler, Thomson, Taylor 2) 4-1 Bournemouth (Robinson)

All-time record v the Gills:

Matches: 85
Gills wins: 32
Draws: 20
Bournemouth wins: 33.Remember me? Midfielder Marcus Browning joined the Cherries from the Gills in the summer of 2002 after failing to agree a new contract at Priestfield. He had made 91 appearances for the Gills, scoring three goals, after a 200,000 move from Huddersfield in March 1999.Man to watch: James Hayter. No matter who the Cherries signed this summer, the biggest coup was getting star striker Hayter to sign a new two-year deal just before the end of last season. He is a talented and tricky customer and his goals were vital for Sean O'Driscoll's men last season.2006/07 prospects: Cash restraints make it difficult for O'Driscoll to add experienced players to his squad, and he has yet again been forced into parting with a key player with the sale of James O'Connor to Doncaster. Although having Warren Cummings back from injury is like having a new signing and Hayter is sure to score goals, the Cherries may be in for a season of struggle this time around.
